In an attempt to rival Fortnite as an event space, Roblox gathered a cumulative viewership of 33M people as a motion-captured incarnation of rapper Lil Nas X performed four in-game shows over two days. If the capabilities of the Roblox 3D engine may not be as impressive as Fortnite's Unreal, the success of the event proved once again the appetite of gamers for new ways to hang out in their virtual worlds. The digital concert came complete with virtual merch to buy and free 'Old Town Road' cowboy hats for everyone. Earlier this year, Roblox launched 'Party Place', a game mode for private virtual meetups.
